Bio:

Thor-Ltd is the project of Durk Kooistra and started around 2006. In the beginning it was mainly a learning experience for Durk. With out any knowledge of electronic music making he managed to create a special mix of acoustic sounds, sampled from vinyl or CD and mangled it with electronic sounds. Old jazz records, shabby classical CD’s from eastern European countries were the choise of material for Durk.

Now as a sound design student  at the NPAC, Durk is  mainly recording instruments and domestic sounds. These recordings end up in a mix with ripped vinyl and CD loops. Durk is also co founder of the Dutch art platform Fant00m. More info about fant00m can be found below under Project’s.

ThorLtd has performed  at many different Festivals and events like; State-X Festival,  Langweiligkeit Festival, Hoogtij Festival, Antilounge Label Night, Uit Markt, Bricolage etc.

Thor-Ltd shared line ups’ with: Aphex Twin, Charlie&Gallus, Crunc Tesla, Food For Animals, Jackson And His Computerband, Kiss the anus of a Black Cat, Menno,  Mogwai, Maartez, Olafur Arnalds, Quit Your Dayjob, Remus, Sobcheck etc.

Fant00m Net.label & E-zine

Fant00m started out as a weekly jam session in a squatted university building by three friends Maartez, Thor-ltd and Niek. Now we act as a platform for cutting edge multi media, art and music. On fant00m all releases are offered as free downloads. We organize events and collaborate with artists we like.

Fokus Records

Fokus is all about quality music. We do not specialize ourselves in a style. We want to be able to stay ahead of the hype-esque music and put out quality new contemporary music. Not afraid to experiment with computers or acoustics.

Sonic Cinema

We are two young sound designers that have worked together on sound projects for over 5 years. We make music, perform live shows, master recordings, record, make sample packs, write scripts and software, write soundtracks, game sound design etc.

Cut-up.radio

I have a Bi-monthly radio show on Hollands best music journalism platform cut-up. I compile tracks, blend in to each other or totally mash them up. The E-zine is very good and also feature some nice English articles.

Superubato

Superubato is all about interlinking various musical styles, cultures and technologies. Musicians and bedroom producers alike are challenged to step away from their common ground. Bricolage is nourished by a joint effort of the Fant00m and Humanworkshop collectives, who use their extensive networks as a resource to fuel the musical content of the events.
